Top-Quality LED Lighting Enhances Kemppi Employees' Work
At Kemppi Oy, a manufacturer of welding equipment and accessories, the production facilities and outdoor areas at the Lahti production plant have transitioned to the LED era through a lighting renovation. The project included updating the lighting in a total of 9,000 m² of production facilities and approximately 37,000 m² of outdoor areas. The goals of the renovation were to reduce energy costs associated with production facility lighting, improve working conditions and safety in production areas and outdoor spaces, and enhance the reliability and lifespan of the luminaires. The previously used fluorescent lamps, metal halide, and halogen lamps were entirely replaced with LED technology both indoors and outdoors.Energy Savings and Payback Time as Key Criteria for Outdoor Lighting
The primary criteria for the factory's outdoor lighting plan were the energy savings achieved with the new luminaires, a reasonable payback period, and the reliability of the luminaires. In the outdoor lighting, various types of existing luminaires were replaced with pole-mounted luminaires from the FL-SB2 LED series. Thanks to the series' versatile power and optical options, the same luminaire series could be used for pathways and entrances as well as parking and loading areas. Although the total number of luminaires installed outdoors was increased by seven, the energy consumption of outdoor lighting was halved compared to the previous solution, thanks to the energy efficiency of the new LED luminaires. "The outdoor lighting has been significantly improved. The light output has increased, and thanks to the lenses of the new pole-mounted luminaires, there are no shadowed areas left on critical pathways," says Kemppi's Facility Manager, Jari Manninen.

In the lighting upgrade for Kemppi's Lahti production plant's product and electronics factories, the old metal halide and T5 fluorescent luminaires were replaced with energy-efficient FL-UFOH LED pendant luminaires. Key criteria for the new luminaires in the production facilities included sufficient light output and color accuracy, energy efficiency, and minimizing glare. Thanks to the optics and standard glare shield provided with FL-UFOH pendant luminaires, the lighting in the production areas was implemented to be uniform, and the luminaires do not strain the workers' eyes. "Indoor lighting achieved outstanding results! Precision assembly tasks are now performed better than before, and employees have expressed their satisfaction with the new lighting," Jari Manninen praises.

The New Lighting Was Installed Without Interrupting Production
The installation of the new luminaires and scheduling of the work were planned in the early stages of the lighting renovation project. A separate contractor carried out the installation of the luminaires supplied by Finlight, as well as the electrical work required for the new outdoor luminaires.
