Osuuskauppa Hämeenmaa, part of the S Group, operates in 21 municipalities in the Kanta- and Päijät-Häme regions. Finlight has been Hämeenmaa's lighting partner for over 10 years, contributing to Hämeenmaa's goal of becoming carbon-negative by the end of 2025 by supplying and installing energy-efficient LED lighting in several of the cooperative's locations.

Effective Lighting Supports the Store Concept While Saving Energy

One of the main advantages of Finlight's modern LED luminaires is their high energy efficiency. Finlight's LED lighting has brought more light output into Hämeenmaa's properties compared to previous lighting solutions, while significantly saving on energy costs for lighting. The technical manager of Osuuskauppa Hämeenmaa, Hannu Tauriainen, estimates that the total energy consumption of lighting in Hämeenmaa's properties has been reduced by 60% compared to previous levels, thanks to the adoption of energy-efficient and long-lasting LED luminaires and lighting control systems that adjust according to usage needs. In addition to lower energy costs, savings have also been achieved in maintenance costs, as the lifespan of LED luminaires is on average about 4-5 times longer compared to the mercury and fluorescent lamps previously used in store spaces.

LED luminaires provide uniform and pleasant lighting in store spaces, enhancing the comfort of the space and greatly improving the customer shopping experience. Finlight's LED luminaires' excellent color rendering properties help customers see products and their colors in the right light, making the products appear more appealing, which significantly aids in product presentation. The direction of the lights and correctly adjusted lighting intensity make it easier to read labels and product information, helping customers distinguish products on shelves more easily. In addition to general lighting, spotlights have been installed in store spaces to highlight selected key products and product categories, guiding customers' attention to the desired areas.

LED Tubes as Replacements for Fluorescent Tubes

The transition from traditional fluorescent tubes to LED tubes and fixtures at Hämeenmaa's properties began even before the EU directive banning the manufacture and sale of fluorescent tubes, which came into effect at the beginning of 2023. Finlight's energy-efficient FL-TL8 LED tubes have been installed to replace fluorescent tubes in store and storage spaces, parking halls, and ABC wash bays. Finlight's LED tubes' reliability and long lifespan have received much praise in Hämeenmaa's properties, and in some locations, new LED tubes have already been installed after the first set of Finlight's LED tubes reached the end of their lifespan.
